Dancing on a Star Chapter 26
“Are you ready?” my father asked as he helped me out of the car. I stood and briefly lost my balance. “Careful, Jack,” he warned as he held my arm.
“I’ll be okay,” I insisted as I placed the crutches under my arm and hobbled into the medical center. We got on the elevator and went to the third floor to Dr. Vorhees office. After a twenty-minute wait, the nurse came out and informed us that he would see us.
He smiled when he entered the examination room. “Hello, Jack,” he said cheerfully. “How’s the arm and leg?” He walked over and began to examine me.
“I’m doing pretty good,” I informed him. “I can’t wait to go back to school, though.”
“Go back to school?” he laughed. “Most boys would love to stay home from school and play video games all day.”
“It’s not much fun playing alone,” I reminded him. “All my friends are in school during the day. I just sit around and do homework and watch television.”
He examined me a few more minutes. “I don’t see any reason why you can’t return to school Monday,” he said.
“Really?” I asked hopefully. He asked me about the layout of the school and if it had any steps I had to climb. I told him it did, but all my classes were on the first floor. He turned to my father and asked him if I was ready to go back to school.
“I don’t see why not,” he replied. “He gets around the house just fine.” Suddenly, he frowned and added, “Well, except for that fall last week.”
“I’m aware of that,” replied Dr. Vorhees as he read my chart and held up an x-ray. “I don’t see anything that would keep me from releasing him to return to school.” He patted my leg and said, “Just don’t…”
“Play basketball,” I laughed.
He informed me that he would also like me to speak to Dr. Butler before we left. “She’s down on the second floor. Wait just a minute and I’ll have my receptionist call and see if she can see you.” He quickly left the room.
“Looks like you’ll be going back to school,” smiled my father.
“I can’t wait,” I responded excitedly. “I always hated school, but when you can’t go, then you realize how much you miss it.”
Dad laughed and said, “You’ve learned a valuable life lesson.”
Dr. Vorhees returned and told me that Dr. Butler had a few minutes between clients, and she could fit me in. He patted my back on the way out and again reminded me to take it carefully. “We’ll make an appointment for next month, and I’ll take x-rays to see about removing those casts.”
“That would be great!” I responded excitedly.
We went downstairs to Dr. Butler’s office. Her receptionist took me immediately back to see her. “She only has a few minutes until her next appointment,” she informed me.
Dad remained in the waiting room while I went to see Dr. Butler. She rose from her desk, smiled and gave me a quick hug. “How are things going, Jack?”
“I get to go back to school Monday,” I excitedly informed her.
She responded, “That’s great. She then asked worriedly, “Do you think you can handle going back? You won’t be fighting with that boy again, will you?”
“No,” I assured her. “He’s my best friend again.”
“Great,” she replied. “And what about the other young man who liked you?”
“Which one?” I asked before my face turned red. I couldn’t remember if I had told her about Tracy.
She grinned and asked, “Which one? Are you holding back on me?”
“No, Ma’am,” I replied nervously. “I have two friends, Tracy and Jeff.”
“Isn’t Jeff the one you think is in love with you?”
“Yeah,” I replied. I then quickly told her a little bit about Tracy. She seemed to remember our conversation about Jeff. I also told her what Tracy said about my mother accepting me having Jeff as a boyfriend.
“It sounds good,” she said, “but you can’t live a lie. That is why you’re here now.”
I frowned and replied, “Yeah, I know.” I asked, “So you don’t think it is right for me to have a boyfriend?”
“I think it is wonderful if you have a boyfriend,” she said. “But the difference between a boy friend and a boyfriend is how you feel about them.”
I gave her a puzzled look and replied, “I don’t get it.”
She looked at her watch and pointed to a chair. “Sit down, Jack.” After I was seated, she tried to make me understand that a boy friend is just that. A boy and a friend. “But a boyfriend is someone who is dear to you. Someone you hold a special place for inside your heart.”
“I think I understand,” I said.
She asked, “Does Jeff or Tracy do that?”
I frowned and replied, “I’m not sure. I know Tracy doesn’t, but I’m afraid of letting Jeff in.”
“That’s natural,” he said. “Especially at your age. I’m not saying you’re too young to be in love. I’m just saying that you may not be ready.”
“Yeah,” I smiled. “I’m not sure I’m ready.”
She leaned back and folded her arms. “So now, what about Tracy’s plan?”
“I think I know what you’re saying,” I replied. “Don’t hurt Jeff just because I want to trick my mother into liking me.”
“That’s right,” she smiled. “You’re a very bright young man. I’m sure you’ll make the right decision.”
I hung my head and replied, “I hope so.”
“Jack,” she insisted. “Look at me.” I raised my head and looked into her eyes. “There’s nothing wrong with being in love. The journey in life is more fun if you’re sharing it with someone.”
I smiled and said, “I’ll remember that.” We stood, and she hugged me before leaving.
“If you ever need to talk,” she said, “my door is always open.” I hugged her again and went out into the waiting room where my father was sitting talking to a woman. He wished her luck before he stood. I wondered if Dr. Butler could help her as much as she did me.
*******
My father took me home, and then he headed back to work. Before leaving, he warned me to be careful and not move around the house too much. I hobbled over to the chair, sat down and soon fell asleep. I was awakened about an hour later when someone started knocking on the door.
“Come in,” I hollered out. Jimmy entered, pulled up the footstool and sat down.
“How’s things?” he asked with a smile. “Miss me?”
I asked him how school was going. He had returned the day before, and we hadn’t had a chance to talk. “It’s just going,” he replied. When I asked him if anyone said anything about being suspended, he just shrugged his shoulders. I was going to asked him more, but just then someone knocked on the door.
Jimmy rose and opened the door. When he stepped back and frowned, I knew who it was- Jeff. Jeff walked over, and I could tell by the look on his face he was worried about Jimmy and me being alone. He asked angrily, “How long has he been here?”
Jimmy walked up and asked challengingly, “What’s it to you, Jeff? Worried I was sucking your boyfriends dick again?”
Jeff turned to leave, but he stopped when I called out his name. “Jeff! Come back.” He gave me an angry look, and I added, “Please?” He reluctantly walked back to me.
I looked at Jimmy and started to scold him. “I’ve had enough of this!” I stated angrily. “Jimmy, if we are going to be friends, then you have to start being friends with my friends.”
Jimmy grinned and shook his head. “What? That didn’t even make sense.”
“Yes, it did,” I replied. I reached up and held Jeff’s hand. “If we’re going to make this work, then you have to accept Jeff, too.”
“Okay,” he replied as his shoulders drooped. He then hesitantly walked over and stood before Jeff. “I’m sorry,” he apologized. I was surprised when he reached out and pulled Jeff into a hug.
Jimmy pulled away, looked down at me and asked, “Are you happy now?”
“Yeah,” I smiled back. “I’m happy.” I held out my hand and asked him to help me to the sofa. Jeff stepped forward, but I insisted that Jimmy help me.
When I sat down, Jeff sat on my right, and Jimmy sat on my left. We remained quiet for a few minutes. Finally, I said excitedly, “The doctor told me I can go back to school on Monday!”
“That’s great!” responded Jeff.
“Yeah,” said Jimmy. “If you need anything, I can help.”
“No,” insisted Jeff. “I can.”
I sighed and said, “There you two go again.” I looked at them and insisted, “You both can help me.”
Jeff replied, “I’ll help you more.” He giggled and stuck his tongue out at Jimmy.
“God’s going to cut that off,” responded Jimmy as we started laughing.
I then said, “Seriously, Guys. I’m a little worried about going back.”
Jimmy asked, “Why?”
“Look at me,” I replied. “I’m on crutches, and everyone knows why. They also know I’m gay.”
Jeff assured me that it wasn’t as bad as I thought. “People have been asking me for several days how you’re doing.” When I asked him why they would ask him, he said that word was going around school that we were boyfriends.
“Who started that rumor?” I asked. It surprised when Jeff pointed at Jimmy.
“What!” I shouted. “Why are you doing that?”
Jimmy asked, “Aren’t you boyfriends?” Jeff looked at me and waited for my answer.
I smiled, took his hand, squeezed it and replied, “Yeah, I guess we are.” I looked at Jimmy and asked him why he was telling everyone at school, though.
He shrugged his shoulders. “I don’t know,” he said. “I just thought it might be easier if everyone thought you were together.”
I gave him a puzzled look and responded, “Why?”
Before he could answer, someone knocked on the door. I had a pretty good idea who is was. Jeff jumped up and answer it. Tracy entered the room. He gave me a suspicious look when he saw Jimmy sitting beside me.
“Hi,” he said nervously as Jeff sat down. “What’s going on?”
“Nothing,” I said. “We were just talking about school. That’s all.”
I was surprised when Jimmy scooter nearer to me and invited Tracy to sit beside him. We were cramped, and our legs were rubbing together. I giggled when I noticed Jimmy starting to pop a boner.
We sat quietly for a minute. I’m sure we were all wondering what we should say next. If it had been just Jeff and Tracy, we would probably have been talking about a hot boy at school. No one knew what to say with Jimmy present.
Jimmy was the first to speak. He looked at Tracy and asked him how his dance class was going. “I’m not taking classes,” he replied. “I’m rehearsing for the Nutcracker.”
“Yeah, right,” responded Jimmy as he looked at me. “I forgot.”
Tracy jumped from the sofa, stood in front of us and began excitedly jumping around. “Guess what?” he asked.
“What?” asked Jeff.
Tracy replied, “I’m going to dance the role of the Prince!”
I asked, “I thought you always wanted to dance the Nutcracker?”
“I did,” he explained, “but the Prince is a bigger role. I didn’t think I would have a chance dancing that part.” He sat down and explained how the director decided that he was a better dancer than the young man who had originally been cast as the Prince. When the director decided to have them switch roles, the other boy stormed out of rehearsal. Now, they were trying to find another dancer for that role.
“That’s great,” responded Jimmy as he added, “I think.” Even I was confused. For weeks Tracy had told us how he was looking forward to dancing the Nutcracker. I had no idea who the Prince was.
“Trust me,” smiled Tracy. “It is a big role. I hope this will be my big opportunity.”
Jimmy said, “Jack said you’re a good dancer.”
“He is,” I responded. I grinned and told Tracy he should show Jimmy how well he dances. It would be another test to see how he handled it. I was hoping his reaction would be different than it was weeks earlier when we sat on the porch steps.
“Yeah,” said Jeff encouraged him. “Dance for us.”
Tracy rose from the sofa and walked to the middle of the room. After doing a few exercises he said he was ready. He announced, “I have to take off my shirt, though.” He pulled his tee shirt over his head, showing off his chiseled torso.
“Shit!” hissed Jimmy. Jeff and I started giggling. He looked at Tracy and said, “Damn, Dude, you’re ripped.”
Tracy threw back his head and posed. “Not too bad for a poof, huh?” I looked over at Jimmy as his face reddened. Jimmy watched intently as Tracy started dancing around the room. Even though I had watched him several times before, I was still amazed at how much better he appeared to be dancing. I giggled when Jimmy reached down and arranged the bulge in his pants.
Tracy walked over, grabbed Jimmy’s hand and pulled him up. “I need someone to dance the Snow Queen.” Jimmy nervously stuttered that he didn’t know how to dance.
“You don’t have to dance,” replied Tracy. “Just hold out our hand and let me do the rest.” Jeff and I laughed when Tracy began dancing around Jimmy. Jimmy was right, he didn’t have a dance bone in his body. Well, except for the one bulging inside his pants. Tracy continued to swirl around the room with Jimmy trying to follow. I giggled when he circled Jimmy and let his hand rub against his erection. Jimmy glanced at me to see if I had noticed.
“Okay, Jimmy,” instructed Tracy. “Hold out your arms, and I’m going to jump into them.”
“This isn’t a good idea,” insisted Jimmy. “I’ll drop you.”
“Nonsense,” replied Tracy. “You can hold me.” With that he ran across the room and leapt into Jimmy’s arms. Jimmy lost his balance and they tumbled to the ground with Tracy lying across Jimmy’s chest. He was grinning into Jimmy’s face. I then realized that he had probably set that up just so he could grind his body into Jimmy’s.
He thrust his body against Jimmy several times before he rose. He held out his hand and helped Jimmy up. They came back over to the sofa and sat down. Jimmy was breathing heavily.
“Wow!” he exclaimed. “You really are good.”
“Thanks, Love,” replied Tracy seductively. He grabbed Jimmy’s hand and pulled him from the sofa. “Let’s go over to my bedroom, and I’ll show you more.” He looked at me and asked if I would mind. I shook my head and told them to go ahead. Jimmy face reddened as Tracy pulled him toward the door. “I’ve got some moves I think you’ll like,” he said as they left the room.
Jeff and I started laughing when they left. “You don’t think they’re going to go do something, do you?”
I laughed and said, “Probably. It is Tracy.”
Jeff asked worriedly, “You don’t think he’ll hurt Tracy?”
“No,” I assured him. “He already told me he might like Tracy.”
“Really?” He sat back and muttered, “Tracy and Jimmy. Who would have thought it?”
“Yeah,” I agreed. “Who would have thought it?”
*******
I was working on a homework assignment when the doorbell rang. Jeff had left hours earlier, and I was getting bored again. I heard my mother talking to Jimmy at the door. “He’s in the family room,” she said. He then timidly entered the room. I’ve known Jimmy for years, and I could tell when something was bothering him.
“What’s wrong?” I asked as he sat down beside me. I put my literature book on the floor and looked worriedly at him.
He shrugged his shoulders and replied, “Nothing.”
I asked, “What did you and Tracy do when you went back to his bedroom?” I giggled and asked, “Did he dance for you some more?” I laughed louder when Jimmy’s face reddened more. “Oh, my God,” I shrieked, “You didn’t!”
He excitedly told me to be quiet. “Your mother is going to hear you,” he warned me.
I giggled and responded, “Why would you care if she heard you? You did just go over to only watch him dance, didn’t you?”
His eyes widened and he said excitedly, “Yeah. But he stripped his clothes off when he did it!”
I fell back on the bed and laughed. When I caught my breath, I told Jimmy, “He likes to do that.”
Jimmy asked, “You’ve seen him dance naked?”
“Yeah, sure,” I replied. “He’s danced like that for me a few times.”
“Did he make you get naked?”
“What!” I laughed. “You danced naked with him?”
“Sshhh!” He looked at the door. “Would you be quiet.”
I whispered, “You got naked with Tracy?”
His face reddened. “You swear to God you won’t tell anyone?”
“I promise,” I replied. “Did you do anything else?”
“We were naked,” he responded as he pushed on his erection that was forming in his sweatpants. “Damn, you were right.”
I gave him a puzzled look. “Right about what?”
“He gives great head.”
“I told you,” I laughed. “Did you suck him?”
Jimmy’s face reddened again. “Yeah,” he admitted. “He said he liked it.”
“You’re becoming a horn dog,” I laughed. “You sucked me, and now you’re sucking Tracy.”
A worried look appeared on his face, “You won’t tell anyone?”
I giggled and replied, “Not if you give me another blowjob.”
“Really?” He asked as he looked at the door. “Right now? Your mother is home.”
I started roaring with laughter. “No, Idiot,” I said. “I was just joking.”
“Oh,” replied Jimmy. “I thought you were serious.”
I gave him a worried look. “Are you okay doing all this? Just a couple of weeks ago you were being a real dick about everything.”
“I think so,” he replied worriedly. “I’m just afraid everyone is going to find out. I don’t know what my Dad and Mom will say if they find out I’m gay.”
“Maybe you should have a talk with them,” I suggested.
“Nope,” he said excitedly. “I can’t do that.”
“They’re going to find out someday,” I warned. “It’s better they hear it from you rather than finding out about it the way my parents did.”
“Shit!” hissed Jimmy. “I never thought of that. If his mother had come into the room when Tracy and I were having sex, I don’t know what I would have done.”
“Seriously, Jimmy,” I warned. “You’re moving too fast. You gotta give this some thought. If you don’t want people finding out that you’re gay, then you better try to keep your dick inside your pants.” I looked at the erection in his pants and laughed.
Jimmy nodded, but added, “I’m having too much fun right now. I’m doing things now that I only thought about when I was jerking off.” He grabbed his erection and tugged on it. “Man, we could have been doing this shit for years if we had said something to each other.”
I looked worried at my friend. “I’m serious, Jimmy. I don’t want to see you get hurt like I did. Mom’s still pretty upset with me. I don’t know if she will ever forget what she saw.”
“So, what do I do?” he asked.
“I don’t know,” I replied worriedly. “Just be careful, okay?”
“Yeah, sure,” Jimmy responded. “I’ll be careful.”
